  • Specialist Ophthalmology training at the University Hospital Gregorio Marañon, Madrid, Spain

  • 2003: Beth Israel North and The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, New York, US
  • 2006: Wills Eye Hospital, Philadelphia, US
  • Started work as a consultant in 2005 in Madrid, Spain, specialising in laser eye surgery and cataract surgery
  • Completed corneal and external disease fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital in 2009-2010
  • Worked as clinical senior associate in the cornea department at the Singapore National Eye Centre (October 2011- March 2012)
  • Moved to the UK and joined St Thomas’ Hospital as a consultant in April 2012
  • Joined Moorfields Eye Hospital as a substantive consultant in October 2016

Research interest / experience:

  • Awarded a PhD for a thesis on clinical results and corneal wound healing after laser eye surgery, with a special interest in surface ablation and mitomycin, at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid, Spain
  • Has published over 30 papers and three book chapters, and is an invited speaker at a number of international meetings
  • Involved in teaching on a number of national and international surgical courses
  • Currently she is leading the creation of an Eye Bank database to gather the follow-up data of all the grafts performed at Moorfields Eye Hospital in order to do research and audit
