The key criteria for refractive surgery, known as laser eye surgery, is that you are over 21 years of age, generally healthy with good vision and your eyes have had a stable prescription for at least a year. Additionally you should have a prescription within the recommended safe range for the procedure – for LASIK this is -1.00 to -10.00 (short sight) or +1.00 to +4.00 (long sight) including any astigmatism.
