Emma Jones was educated at Millfield School, UK, before training in medicine at Guy's and St.Thomas' Medical School, London. She undertook a BSc in genetics in 1995, graduated in 1998 (MB BS) and subsequently undertook medical training in London to become a Member of the Royal College of Physicians of England (MRCP) in 1998. After this she began training in Ophthalmology in Oxford where she completed her Membership of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists London (MRCOphth) and Royal College of S
She undertook research into wound healing and glaucoma with Professor Khaw at the institute of Ophthalmology, which resulted in a publication in Nature Biotechnology on a new treatment to improve the surgical success in glaucoma surgery. She has also published a popular textbook for medical students on genetics.

Emma lives locally in North London. She is married to a Senior Clinical Lecturer and Consultant Surgeon who practices at Imperial College/ Charing Cross Hospital. They have 2 children.
